Midwinter Christmas Celebration 2026

In June, members of the New Zealand Orchid Society gathered at our usual meeting venue, the Auckland Horticultural Council at Western Springs, for our Midwinter Christmas celebration.

It was a wonderful evening of good food, laughter and fellowship. Members brought along a great selection of food to share, and everyone enjoyed sitting down together and catching up over a relaxed meal.

Lyn added to the festive atmosphere by decorating the tables and the room with Christmas decorations, while Christmas music played in the background. The Christmas theme brought a little warmth to the middle of winter and helped create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

The evening was also a chance to celebrate one of our members' birthdays. We shared birthday wishes and added another reason to celebrate during an already enjoyable evening.

Of course, no Christmas celebration would be complete without a visit from Father Christmas! Everyone enjoyed receiving a Christmas present, which added to the fun of the evening.

Events like this are a great opportunity to step away from the usual orchid discussions and spending time together with fellow orchid enthusiasts. 

All in all, it was a lovely evening enjoyed by everyone.
